A couple of weekends ago, the lovely sister duo from Soeurs de Luxe invited me to the cutest Christmas event they could have created, a.k.a. #BloggersXmas, hosted in the lovely Finch's Pub

This was extra exciting for me as I got to meet up with Heather from 100 Ways to 30 and Sam from Samantha's Beauty Loves, two blogging gals I met right at my first ever blogging event (Scarlett London's BloggersFestival), as well as meet the lovely Margret from Moments with M.

The event was beautifully decorated, even down to the delicate teacups for hot rum and apple punch (trust me to head straight for the alcohol). As always it was a grand time meeting lots of new exciting brands. Among the many there were Sweet Cheesus, the most HEAVENLY cheesecakes I've ever eaten (despite what my slightly lactose-intolerant stomach may have thought). PNY, from whom I was lucky enough to win two gorgeous rose gold portable chargers?! La Miela for super comfy and versatile clothing and Type the Hype which connects bloggers to brands not solely based on follower count, which I think is just the best idea for the blogging community.

Thank you again to Jasmine and Kirsty for inviting me and congratulations on such a fun event!

FOOD | Halloween Treats with The Co-Op

food, recipe, halloween, smores, brownies, jelly, treats, the co-op, the co-operative, sponsored, collaboration,
This one's a little different from my usual spiel as you may have already been able to tell. I'm sure you'll have already got the hint that I love food, so for a bit of fun The Co-Op got in contact with me asking if I'd like to try out some of their Halloween treats, so of course I had to give it a whirl.
food, recipe, halloween, smores, brownies, jelly, treats, the co-op, the co-operative, sponsored, collaboration,
I got to try of making some delicious S'mores and a huge batch of brownies. I also took myself back 10 years and made some jelly, which I had definitely forgotten how long takes to set.... Sorry Mum for ever begging to make jelly, what a pain! The maybe slightly not so appetising eggs are made with red food colouring, which will now definitely be doubling up as fake blood for tomorrow!

Be right back, just going to eat all this food....

BEAUTY | My Everyday Make-Up Heroes ft. Collection, Soap & Glory, BrowHaus

beauty, BrowHaus, Collection, make up, Soap and Glory, primed and ready, Vaseline, concealer,

Yep that's right, it's a blue moon again - Ellie is writing a whole post about beauty. As I'm sure I've mentioned before, my housemates are all pretty into their make-up, and somewhere along the road I took a different turning and missed out on that love and perfection of make-up skills. Instead I focused on.. Well to be honest I'm not really sure what else I focussed on. But it definitely wasn't make up.

Reaching my 20's (good lord, that's still the weirdest thing to say, even 11 months in) I feel like I need to get my sh*t together and start looking like I have my sh*t together. First step, my face. So here is the second instalment of my everyday heroes mini-series. Check out the first HERE with my 'end of the day' heroes

But first of all, it's confession time: I am no beauty guru, I'm not good at make up, I can't create goal-worthy eye make up looks, I get bored watching tutorials on YouTube or wimp out even trying. Phew. Glad that's off my chest.

beauty, BrowHaus, Collection, make up, Soap and Glory, primed and ready, Vaseline, concealer,

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Shade 3

I am the girl who retweets/likes/regrams every meme under the sun about dark circles. They are the bane of my life, and unfortunately don't think they will ever substantially improve. Through my teens I searched and searched for a concealer that would properly cover them, but just my luck never quite found one. UNTIL. The blogging world (and all 3 of my housemates) introduced me to this wonder. The rave reviews aren't lying. This is amazing. Go buy it now.

BrowHaus Brow Pencil

I've always been pretty happy with my brows, they've held their own for 20 years of my life and I thank them for that. But recently I've been getting into the more manicured look. Plus they seem to be getting patchy which I am not happy about. But luckily this #BloggersFestival freebie has saved the day.

Collection Witch Hazel 'Primed & Ready' Primer

(Oh this is becoming a bit of a Collection love-fest isn't it? I'll stop soon. Maybe.)

This primer is the first primer I've owned and it's doing pretty well in my books, it creates a amazingly smooth matte surface and makes any foundation/concealer/other face product glide on evenly. It also gives me piece of mind with it's extra ingredient of Witch Hazel, so even it's doing a bit of work on my not-so-blemish-free skin.

beauty, BrowHaus, Collection, make up, Soap and Glory, primed and ready, Vaseline, concealer,

Soap & Glory 'Glow All Day' Highlighter

To be honest with you, I probably need to up my highlighter game. But this nifty little stick is perfect for everyday, just adding a subtle glimmer. I genuinely think it's going to last for ever as well, there's just so much of it?! I'm really enjoying Soap & Glory at the moment, definitely will have to check out more of their products.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Lip Balm

Okay, okay, this is probably cheating a little. But Vaseline has always and will always have a firm place in my makeup bag/heart. It's just so cheap and easy, and the cocoa butter version smells divine.

Any great recommendations for a bit of a newbie to make-up? What are your Daily Make Up Heroes?

Autumn, accessories, Matalan, style, fashion, outfit, OOTD, lace up boots, scarf, AW16, sponsored, collaboration,

As I'm sure you'll have noticed from my previous post I'm preeeetty excited that it's Autumn. York in Autumn is one of my absolute favourite things, and who doesn't love a good coat?

In recent years, the household name Matalan have really upped their game, so I was very excited to see what their AW16 accessories had to offer. They definitely did not disappoint. The beautiful autumnal colours, the oranges, deep reds and greens all just tie in so perfectly.

I adore the ring detail of the bag clasp, one of those lovely little features that makes a product look so much more sophisticated (/expensive). Another feature I'm loving are the small heel on these lace up ankle boots, it's that perfect size to add a bit of height yet isn't uncomfortable like soo many of these style boots can be. To round it all off, the colour block scarf is one of those gorgeously soft blanket styles, perfect for wrapping up on chillier days.

WISHLIST | The AW16 Update

AW16, wishlist, Zara, ASOS, New Look, H and M, bomber jacket, pastel, pink, Autumn, transitional, high neck jumper, Victorian, fashion, style, topshop, denim skirt,

Straight up, I am in love with everything on this wishlist.

Around this time of year I get that irresistible itch to do a complete wardrobe overhaul for a fresh new start for a new season. Yes I know, Autumn isn't quite here yet; as the weather has been reminding us on and off.

But

JUMPER SEASON IS UPON US

You have no idea the excitement I have to be back in jumper weather. I love the summer, I really do, but by the end I just start to crave that cosy, warmth of one of the many many jumpers collecting dust in my wardrobe over the slightly warmer summer months in Britain.

As you can tell, the high neck trend is still a massive YES from me, cannot get enough of it still. I love Zara's high collar blouse, the cute Victorian/Edwardian feel adds something so interesting. Something you can always rely on Zara for are their beautiful bags and of course this season, yet again, they do not disappoint. I've seen this feather detail bag everywhere, but classic clichĂ© blogger of me it's caught my affections too.

I love me a mini-skirt so nothing has made me happier than the reappearance of the denim skirt. The sheer number of denim skirts I had back in the day was quite something. This Topshop high-waisted number has hit the nail right on the head for me, the perfect subtle update with the classic denim skirt charm.

Another highlight of this wishlist is H&M's amazing girly twist on the bomber jacket - yet another trend that seems to be refusing to fade away - adding the satin giving it an almost Pink Ladies feel.

All this pastel pink with the camel and deep burgundy reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream. I think it's the perfect transitional tend from light and summery to darker and warmer winter styles.

What's on your AW16 wishlist?

Removing my make up is a bit of chore isn't it? Surely no one can deny that. This congregation of products are my current favourites for that boring time at the end of the day where my make up has to be removed. And they do a pretty good job of it I must admit.

Magnitone BareFaced! Cleansing Brush*

*WARNING* I'm a bad blogger. I promised in my original post HERE I'd do a follow up of my thoughts on this brush. I know. I din't. I'm sorry. BUT. I'm here to say that I love it. It cleans my skin so well and has make it so much less lifeless and dull than before. Overall, lots of big shiny stars for this little gadget.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

Now, I'll be frank. I tried this a couple of times years ago and, weirdly enough, it broke my skin out into loads of small bumpy spots. So that was that. After clearing out my shelf in the bathroom, I found it again and thought I'd give it another chance, life is all about second chances right? And it's going well so far, I love the glowy and fresh feeling it leaves. Plus no weird bumpy spot things. Score.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner

I try not to use a toner too often, I feel like it strips my skin too much of those natural oils everyone bangs on about. But if I feel my cleansing hasn't totally rid my face of all make up I'll give this a whirl. It's also a little tag team with the Body Shop Tea Tree Lotion.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Lotion

I have written about this product countless times before, and undoubtedly will write about it countless times in the future. It's my absolute favourite product to keep spots at bay, and I can't see that changing anytime soon. The only thing I've come to realise is my skin definitely benefits from not using it everyday, as it can be quite drying. But other than that, a big big favourite of mine.

Believe it or not, this post isn't sponsored by the Body Shop Tea Tree range, I'm just in love with it!

TRAVEL | Eight Flight Essentials for Your Hand Luggage

skin, skincare, lifestyle, travel, flight, essentials, hand luggage, eye gel, eye mask, Boots, beauty, flight essentials,

At the point this post goes live, I will have endured a 25 hour 25 minute journey consisting of two flights and a 2.5 hour stop over. Believe me, I'm exhausted even at the thought of it. This is the longest journey I will ever have made, plus includes the longest commercial flight in the world, so luckily I'm not a nervous flyer! Of course I am absolutely beyond excited though, but more on that later.

So in lieu of all of this, I thought I'd put together a mini pre-travel guide, my hand luggage essentials with the usual suspects along with some of my favourites, especially for long-haul flights.

EYE GEL
it's like a refreshing burst of refreshing-ness. Absolutely perfect for tired plane-journey eyes

SNACKS
if you're like me, you'll probably find it difficult going longer than 30 minutes without some food source. Curb that hanger

EYE MASK
(excuse the language on mine)
so necessary for a slightly less disturbed sleep, the rude message is probably less necessary.

LIP BALM
although I have a deep long-lasting love affair with Vaseline, it just doesn't quite cut it for the intense dry cracked mess my lips become on a flight, plus it melts. So I opt for thicker, more intense formulas

BOOTS BOTANICALS GLOW BALM
this beauty adds such the best and subtle glow. Plus it's hydrating too

COLLECTION LASTING PERFECTION CONCEALER
because sometimes just the eye gel isn't enough for those under-eye bags.

FACE WIPES
you don't want to have to queue for/squash into a bathroom to remove your make up, so wipes are prefect to freshen up. I swiped these handy little packs from a hotel room bathroom.

A PRETTY TRAVEL DOCUMENTS WALLET
for passports, boarding cards, immigration forms, visas, etc etc etc. I've been dying for one of these for so long and never been able to justify buying one. Hence it's absence from the photo. But the organised-girl inside of me will probably get her way in duty free soon....

CaseApp, collaboration, custom, discount, discount code, free, giveaway, iPhone, iPhone 6S, iPhone case, laptop, macbook air, New In, palm leaf print, personalised, phone case, Piper Winston, sponsored, tropical, win,

If you know me, I'm a sucker for a phone case. Although recently I've been braving the 'naked phone' look, which in hindsight wasn't a great idea (see: the many cracks and dents now pride of place on my phone). So as I am one of the clumsiest people, it's probably a good thing I love the case-life. Oh, and of course my laptop isn't free from the wrath of my clumsiness. Oh no. It's always getting weird marks and scratches on it.

So of course when CaseApp offered me the chance to customise not only my own custom iPhone case but also a custom skin for my MacBook Air of course I jumped at the chance. At the moment I've been loving Laura from Piper Winston's free wallpapers
, so credit where credit's due these beautiful designs are from her talented hand! And for an extra touch of course I had to match the case and skin. You gotta love dat coordination.

The laptop skin has really nice texture to it, went on smoothly and I have no doubt it'll protect from any scratches due to the thickness of it. I went for a matte phone case which also has such a great feel to it, but you can also get them made up in gloss. I'm loving the matte though, it feels so nice to hold!

But the generosity doesn't stop here, the total babes have given me an exclusive discount code for ellie etc followers to get 20% off any of their products! All you need is to use: ELLIEETCC20 at the checkout, valid until the 18th of August

PLUS enter the giveaway below to win your own custom design (up to £22) from CaseApp

GIVEAWAY - WIN YOUR OWN CUSTOM DESIGN (up to £22) FROM CASEAPP

The New Look Cream Fray Hem Espadrilles

I kind of went off espadrilles for a long time, they haunted me of my horrendous Year 8 fashion sense. But now they're becoming more and more available, and just a bit more interesting really, I thought I'd give them a whirl. These are only £9.99 too which is the best bargain I've found for a while.

The Primark Lace Up Flats

You may remember these cute things from my November Favourites post but seeing as I live in England, albeit the North of England, the rain and cold kept me from wearing these much at all. Now the slightly nicer weather has set in, I can't get enough of these. Plus for under £10 and Primark they're actually really comfy!

The New Look Silver Loafers

Another that I've cheated a little with too. My lovely housemates bought these for me for my birthday back in October after seeing them featured on my Autumn/Winter wishlist. Again due to unreliable British weather, plus some slightly painful breaking-in issues, these have taken a while to get into my good books. But after all that hassle, they're perfect for looking smart while keeping your feet relatively cool.

The Sole Diva via JD Williams Leopard Pony Hair Sliders

After a little Twitter rant about how difficult I find it to find sandals in this slider style - curse my unusually wide feet - I stumbled across some websites that stock extra wide fitting shoes and as luck would have it, my size were the only size in stock AND in the sale. They fit perfectly too.

BEAUTY | Vatika Argan Shampoo and Black Seed Hair Oil*

#bloggersball, beauty, collaboration, hair, hair oil, haircare, shampoo, sponsored, Vatika,
#bloggersball, collaboration, sponsored, Vatika, haircare, hair, shampoo, hair oil, beauty,

If you've read my previous posts, you'll know I was lucky enough to attend Scarlett London's #BloggersBall a few weeks back. At the event, along with a multitude of other amazing companies was Vatika. Now I'll be honest, I genuinely had never heard of it until the event, but their lovely representatives gave out a few products of theirs to try.

ARGAN SHAMPOO

Oh my god, this makes my hair SO SOFT. It's incredible. I was worried it'd make my hair a bit too moisturised and leave residue, but there's literally none at all. It left my hair with the 'hairdresser-clean' feeling. You know that feeling after getting a haircut where your hair has never felt as clean? That feeling.

BLACK SEED HAIR OIL

This will literally last me years. My hair is mildly dry at the ends, but only needs the tiniest slither of this otherwise it'll dry waxy and greasy. I think for more wiry, drier hair a slightly larger dose would suffice. But the smell. Oh. Wow. The smell. It makes your mouth water. Plus even with the tiny amount I use in my hair, the fragrance sticks around.

TRAVEL | What To Do In Budapest, Hungary

Back in March me and five of my uni pals went off to Budapest for my housemates birthday. For such an amazing (and cheap!!) city, I'm so annoyed at myself for not going sooner, and would definitely jump at the chance to go back. Here are some of my highlights and things you should do while you're there, in my usual fashion of course just a few months late.

St Stephen's Basilica

The outside is a spectacle in itself, so definitely one to wander over to even if you don't go inside - which I didn't end up doing, but a friend did reporting that it was incredible. Although she does have a slightly odd love of churches, so could be biased. (Yes Emma, you know what I'm talking about.)

A Walking Tour

Slightly less specific, but the city has so many hidden and not so hidden gems that you might not get to see otherwise. I genuinely feel doing a walking tour is one of the best ways to see a city, and make you feel more comfortable in your temporary (or maybe not so temporary) surroundings. Plus it makes navigating your own way round soo much easier!

The Chain Bridge and the River Danube

Along your walking tour, this'll most likely tick this off too. It's one of the many the famous landmarks Budapest has to offer, and when you see the magnificent thing you'll probably guess why. Definitely one to go back and see in the evening too, the lights are serious fairy-light envy.

The Buda Side of the river

As you may or may not know, Budapest is actually made up of 'Buda' and 'Pest' on either side of the river. We stayed on the Pest side however the Buda side is another treasure trove of beautiful places. The incredible roof of the church above was just amazing to see in person, it almost looks embroidered, such a beautiful contrast to the rest of the building.

Fisherman's Bastion

Continuing on the fairy-tale theme of the Buda side of the Danube, the architecture here was just stunning (can you tell I'm running out of words how to describe things?) all rolled in with views of the Parliament Building. But come on, who doesn't love a turret?

Gellért Hill

Okay this is a bit of a trek, but the views definitely make up for it. And it could be a lot worse. Again on the Buda side of the river, it gives you a view of, well, everyone there is to see in Budapest really. PLUS there are slides on the way up, so that's always a plus for the children within us all.

And the rest...

Heroes Square
First up a warning - if you're going to take pictures next to the statues keep an keen eye/hand on your bag. Unfortunately this is a warning due to our own mistake, leading to one of our bags being taken. That aside, the huge expanse of Heroes Square is pretty spectacular, and easily reachable by their metro. Another warning - make sure you stamp your metro ticket, or you'll get fined. Another one to learn from our mistakes. Oops!

Ruin Bars
Budapest’s infamous bars created literally in ruin buildings. They’re crazy, absolutely mental but some of the best fun. Think Alice In Wonderland, but even weirder. Just. Insane.

A Spa - Rudas Baths roof top pool

Another of Budapest’s main attractions, thermal spring (there are 125 springs under the city?!) baths and spas. We has a lovely day of relaxation, in the Rudas Baths which had the coolest roof top hot tub. There are so many other baths too, some do parties throughout the summer, which looked incredible but sadly we didn't make it.

Big big thank you to the #BloggersBall introducing me to Tessuti the luxury clothing website. I'm not a massive buyer of high-end products, I am a student after all, and love a bargain. However Tessuti has the most beautiful selection of Womenswear, I couldn't resist. Plus, their sale is so great, espeically their bags. Seriously. The bags *insert numerous heart eye emojis here*.

This Love Moschino t-shirt is literally the comfiest thing I've ever worn. I always worry I'll look massive with loose t-shirts on, they just do that weird baggy thing and make me look 10x bigger than usual (is that just me?) but this piece has washed away any such fears.

For this outfit, I decided to dress it up a bit with my beloved New Look fluffy clutch (aka my pet sheep), this super dark Anastasia Matte Liquid Lipstick and my JewelleryBox rings (check out my post about them HERE). It could so easily be dressed down as well with trainers and a backpack - perfect for dragging myself to lectures in but still retaining some hint of style..

A final thank you to the lovely people at Tessuti for kindly sending me one of their products!
